Description
It is very easy in Python http://live.gnome.org/GnomePowerManager/FAQ#head-1cf52551bcec3107d7bae8c332fd292ec2261760. The only problem is, that with newer distributions e.g. Ubuntu Hardy the interface is called "org.freedesktop.PowerManagement?" instead of "org.gnome.PowerManager?".
